27 Dec 2007 - Happy B-Day Dad

Today is my Dad's birthday. I have a present for him but it will get there late as it always does. I'm a rotten son. Hard to believe you're 79. Happy Birthday and many more!

I spent the day sick. I had a day off coming and I used it. Stupid sinuses. The only thing I managed to do today was play a little Guitar Hero and see a movie with Robbie once I cleared myself up with a little soup.

We saw No Country For Old Men and it was very interesting. The first two-thirds of the movie rocked! The last third; not so much. Still a good movie. Left me a little depressed.

The best thing I've found to fight the blues is Guitar Hero. I have advanced my play to the "expert" level. At that level, you're no longer playing a game, you are one with the guitar! I'm not kidding. My hands were playing it like it was a real guitar. I instinctively know where my fingers need to be and no longer think about it. I reach a state of almost meditation as I play. It's thrilling.

One last tid bit... Connie and I were watching Family Guy last night and both laughed so hard. Hobie is in New York and I've been preparing some art for him. I have always wondered what life would be like as a New York artist. I see a lot of "crap" in galleries these day; lots of photography Aidan could have taken. So when Stewie said, "Every hot girl who can aim a camera thinks she's a photographer! Ooooo, you took a black and white picture of a lawn chair and it's shadow and developed it at Save On, you must be so brooding and deep" we both busted out laughing so hard we were snorting! Connie because my Mom developed photos at Save On and me because of the whole pretentious artist thingy. I don't know why, just felt like sharing that. :-)

The latest in a series of entries in the Fabriano sketchbook. I only have a few pages left. Guess I'll be starting another soon. Click the pic to go directly to that page.

I grabbed a camera, a tripod, Aidan and Connie. I sat them down and said, "We need to send one of them there fancy photo cards this year." So I took the pic, did a quick edit, added the words and off to WalMart I sent it for printing. If you didn't get one, I ran out or I somehow missed you. Sorry. If you did, I hope it wasn't too cheesy.
