I've been waffling for months and months trying to make a decision one way or the other. And if you don't know I'm talking about my retirement from the good ole You Ess A Eff then you don't visit here much do you?

We had a pretty rough inspection in Korea. Lots of drama I really could have done without all that! I think I handled it very well under the circumstances. Turns out, this was a turning point for me.

I've been holding back submitting my retirement request waiting on my secret squirrel stuff to be updated or if they tried to give me an assignment; whichever came first. Turns out my secret squirrel stuff was done 2 months ago and I didn't know. But before I could drop the paper, they dangled the possibility of a command in front of me. That was the one job I told Connie I would stay in for.

However, Connie and I have been talking. During those conversations I took an assessment of my skills and what I'd be able to do on the outside, plus a look at what my retirement pay will actually be. Not to mention I got two of the most awesome hand-made custom suits while I was there. I'm so money when I'm in them! Anyway, with all the drama, I had an epiphany! My skills at dealing with people are pretty good. Could be better but pretty good. Companies would pay big bucks for that skill. Why the hell am I putting up with all this drama when I could be putting up with this drama and getting paid for it. That would make it a lot easier to deal with. So "poof!" I finally found the discriminating factor to push my decision one way or the other. So today, I applied for retirement. It's official. I will end my service, for real this time, 1 Feb 2009. Just 277 short days from now. My last day of work will be mid-November. Damn I done got myself all motivated now!
