1 May 2008 - Juno, Lars and No Sleep! (T-276d)
I'm still completely upside-down on my time zones. I can't seem to shake the jet lag off this time as easily as I have on other trips. It's midnight and I'm wide awake. I tried not to sleep today but unconsciousness washed over me and I couldn't stop it. I should take a pill. Isn't that what Madison Avenue insists we do to solve all our problems?
Two quick movie reviews... On the plane back from Korea I watched a movie named "Lars and the Real Girl." Secret Squirrel definitely gives it 3.5 our of 4 nuts. The acting was flawless, the story was excellent and the only flaw I saw was the pace could have been just a wee bit faster. I thoroughly enjoyed it anyway.
The other movie is "Juno." I could have seen this one on the plane but I waited so I could watch it with Connie. We watched it tonight and the Squirrel gives this one 4 of 4 nuts. Once again, the acting was great, story was excellent and it was funny. I might be bias though. It is about a 16 year old girl who gets pregnant and gives her baby up for adoption and the trials she faces along the way. Sound familiar? Yeah, it hit home for us in a big way. If it didn't have swearing in it I'd let Aidan watch it. Well, not right now, but in a few years when he starts asking questions.
Which brings me to the question... One of these days, probably sooner than I'd like, he's going to ask why we call Connie's sister Minnie grandma. If he finally understands family relationships enough to ask that question then he's old enough to understand the whole adoption thing. Man, that is so going to rock his world. I hope he understand but dismisses it in his mind as a minor detail. Oh I'm sure when he's mad he'll spout off the "you're not my real parents" dribble, which we're ready for. I am enjoying his blissful ignorance of it all for now. He looks like us so there's no obvious physical clues to tip him off. That should hold off the questions for a while. I hope.
I started a new sketchbook. It's blue. It's a Kelly Blue Book! LOL. This is the 2nd drawing, the 1st being to hideous to show.
I was in Hawaii. People suck but the waves are nice. Tried to capture one in this drawing. Click, enjoy.
I haven't been that frequent on the updates lately. If you want to know why, perhaps this is one of the reasons.
My darling kitten Neko. She enjoys her computer time with daddy. I think it has something to do with the mouse.
It's also the Squirrel entry pic. Enjoy.
