17 Aug 2008 - Time and Pressure (T-187d)
With enough time and pressure, you can accomplish much. Almost 6 weeks ago I decided I had enough, it was time to organize my office and create a space to do my art properly. I've kept every scrap of paper for over 27 years now, all of it unorganized, in any of 12 random boxes. I also kept every art project, magazines, office supply, you name it. I had it sorta organized in Colorado (7 years ago) but it got dumped and moved when we came here. So I started to go through it, each paper, each item, with dogged determination that I was going to deem it worthy and file it or destroy it.
In 6 short weeks, I'm finally done! I've discarded 16 large trash bags of shredded paper, junk, craft projects, whatever. I feel light! I feel like a weight has been lifted. I've reduced my financial and military records down to two drawers in a four drawer file cabinet. Oh the transformation is amazing! But it had a price. I've put off doing stuff with Robbie, I spend almost every night working on it to some degree, I've ignored friends, family, everyone with the sole focus of this project. Now I can take a breather.
I leave to the pit of darkness tomorrow; Denver. I'm wearing my Rush T-shirt. I just can't get enough adrenaline sometimes. I'll be back Friday (if the intolerant liberals don't kill me that is) and the office starts phase II; paint and redecoration.
Aidan starts school in 1 week. I think Connie secretly looks forward to it. I bought Connie a laptop so we will stop fighting over this computer. I updated the squirrel with more stuff, including Aidan memorable quotes. I know, no political stuff this time; please don't be too disappointed.
Oh, and I have official fancy dancy prints of my artwork now. I only have 187 days until my real life begins. I gotta get ready!
That's right, I now know how to make prints. I have 23 left, each with a certificate of authenticity. I'm all big time artist now. E-mail me if you want one. While supplies last!
I invited the office over for a little rock band. I had fun. I suspect they did too.
Definitely going to do it again. With only one teeny tiny change...
The boss does NOT get to be the lead singer any more!
